Costa Grove: Lobster & Mudskipper

Costa Grove playground brings the Pasir Ris coastal theme to life through a lobster-themed and mudskipper-themed play environment designed for children of all ages. The centrepiece is a striking red lobster-shaped playground for ages 5 to 12, where play and imagination come together. The lobster’s bold design is paired with clever detailing, including two slides shaped like its crusher claws, delivering both visual impact and fun. At the head, a concealed fireman's pole adds an element of surprise, seamlessly integrated into the lobster’s design. Children can enter the playground structure in multiple ways, each offering a different play experience. A vertical shaft beneath the body challenges coordination as children ascend the steps. An arch climber and cargo net at the sides and tail provide varied climbing routes that encourage exploration. Beneath the structure, interactive features such as speaking tubes and roped ball seats designed to resemble lobster eggs create opportunities for imaginative play and social interaction. A circular swing rounds up the play area, allowing multiple children to enjoy the experience together.

For children aged 2 to 5, a pair of mudskipper-themed play structures sits atop a play hill, supported by colourful rock-climbing grips embedded into the slope. The adorable mudskippers are positioned facing each other and fitted with guardrails for safety. One mudskipper features a series of low, rising sloped steps, while the other functions as a slide, encouraging children to climb over its back and slide down. Located beside this installation are play panels and a safe, low-tightrope bridge that introduce sensory and balancing play suited for early development.

The space also caters to adults and seniors with fitness equipment from Galopin and Stilum. Residents can engage in upper-body strength training using Stilum equipment with adjustable weights or perform static bodyweight exercises. Galopin airwalkers provide low-impact cardiovascular training, while a large spinning top element helps to develop balance. These additions encourage active lifestyles and support intergenerational use of the space. The playground is further framed by decorative poles topped with palm-like leaves, reinforcing Pasir Ris’ coastal identity and bringing the beachside theme to life.
