Dreamers at Shaw Theatre

Dreamers at Shaw Theatre JEM reimagines the traditional movie-going experience by combining cinema and play in a single destination. As Singapore’s first playground installation integrated within a movie theatre, this space was designed to create a welcoming environment where children can stay active while families enjoy quality time together. The colourful space features vibrant yellow and blue tones that reflect the playful atmosphere of the theatre, transforming a trip to the movies into an engaging family outing.

The playground comprises three rope play towers connected by a series of rope tunnels. The interconnected layout encourages children to move between structures, creating an elevated play journey filled with exploration and adventure. Constructed primarily from rope-based equipment, the playground maintains clear sightlines throughout the structure, allowing parents to easily supervise their children while they play.

One of the towers features a long red slide that delivers children directly into a ball pit below, creating an exciting highlight within the playground. The open rope design also offers a unique advantage within the cinema setting, allowing children to remain visually connected to the movie screen even while climbing, traversing and exploring the play structures. This thoughtful integration ensures that play and entertainment can happen simultaneously without compromising either experience.

Designed as part of the Dreamers concept, the playground supports a relaxed and family-friendly environment where children can play before or during the show while parents sit back and enjoy the experience. By combining safe, durable equipment with innovative design, this installation creates a unique destination where movies, movement and family fun come together under one roof.
